Department of Commerce
The three year degree course in Commerce was introduced in the year 1971.
The teaching programme includes lectures, Guest Lectures, Problem Solving, Group Discussion, Case Study, Presentations, Field Trips.
The department organizes business quiz, debates, competition, inter departmental and intercollegiate competitions. The latest developments in Trade, Commerce & Industries are discussed with the students. Students are trained to become the future leaders in the field of Business and Economics. ' Business ethics and social responsibility' is the motto of the training programme of the department.

Activities for the year 2011 -2012

- Career Guidance Session for III B.com students on 25th June 2010, was delivered by Mrs. Jennifer Lobo of Career Guidance Cell in the college Auditorium.
- Hard Sale Competition for B.Com students on 29th July, 2010. This was a marketing event with two rounds. There were 35 participants out of which 20 were qualified for the finals

- Students of II B.Com ‘C’ batch - Visit to Balagraha , an orphanage at Maryhill, Mangalore on 7th August 2010.
- Guest talk for III B.com students on “Marketing & Marketing Research” by Prof. A. Lakshminaraismha, Associate Dean, IBS Hyderabad on 8th October 2010 in the college Auditorium.
- The Staff & Students attended a Seminar on Soft skills required for a successful management career at Hotel Poonja International, Mangalore on 8th October, 2010 organized by IBS Hyderabad. The resource person was Prof. A. Lakshminaraismha, Associate Dean, IBS Hyderabad

A Competition on business dumbcharades was organized on 11th December 2010 for all the B.Com students. The teams consisted of three members each who were briefed about the rounds in advance. There were two rounds. First was the twister round and the second was a pictorial rond.15 teams i.e. 45 students took part in the competition.

A guest lecturer was organized for III B.Com students on Company Secretary on 20th December, 2010 by Mrs.Pallavi, Company Secretary.

A guest lecturer was organized for III B.Com students on Financial Management about Trading on Stock Market and Working of Jobbers and Brokers on 1st February,2011 by Mr.Gerald Colaco.

PERSONA, an intercollegiate workshop on personality development was organized for B.Com students on 5th February, 2011. 88 students from various colleges participated in the workshop.
