The Postgraduate Department of English organized a two-day seminar titled "Gods, Guns and Globalism:Critical Theories Today and Tomorrow" on Feb 8 & 9, 2018. The seminar aimed at exploring existing links and generating new ones between literature, and historical, cultural, political, social and psychological forces. It also desired to focus on what brings and holds human society at the global level together, rather than on what drives people apart. It expected to outline initiatives that could be taken to safeguard the vulnerable earth; to sensitize participants to the rights and needs of sexual minorities, and to celebrate fluidity and diversity.Prof Surendra Rao was the chief guest. Dr Geralyn Pinto was the Staff Convenor for the seminar. 116 participants registered for the programme of whom 49 presented research papers.
