The Career Guidance & Information Cell
The College has established this Cell in the year 1998 in view of helping students to get useful and systematic guidance on careers open to them in their respective field of study. The Career Guidance Committee members along with the Co-ordinator of the Cell Mrs. Laveena Rodrigues., chalk out various enrichment programmes as well as conduct coaching classes in order to train the students to answer various competitive examinations. An attempt is made to hold campus recruitments for the benefit of those students who are pursuing professional and vocational courses of study.
Objectives of the Cell
To study job potentials available in the job market
To establish contact with Companies/Organization to invite them for Campus Recruitment and Placement.
To encourage students to appear for the competitive exams in management, computers and public services.
To co-ordinate the time line program at the departmental level and guide them based on their objectives.
Students are provided opportunities to learn about Careers and options available to each stream of subjects. The Career Counselor, Mrs. Laveena Rodrigues arranges for guest lectures, Interactions and mock interviews to prepare students for future life and Careers. The Career Guidance Cell conducted five UGC sponsored Career oriented programmes as certificate courses, besides seven other courses offered at the college level during this academic year. About 415 students enrolled in these courses during the odd semester of 2013 and benefitted from them.
The Cell conducts the following programmes in co-ordination with various departments of the college.
St.Agnescollege(Autonomous) with collaboration with Manipal Institute of Computer Education(MICE) introduced a certificate course in Accounts and Tally with ERP-9. In the first batch 25 students enrolled for the course which was held from 10th July to 20th August 2015. The course was taught by Ms.Rachana from MICE. In the second batch 24 students enrolled for the course which was held from 24th August to 15th September 2015. In the third batch 20 students enrolled for the course which was held from 26th October to 3rd November. The fourth batch was held from 8th November to 15th November 2015 with 9 students. In the fifth batch 14 students enrolled for the course which was held from 23rd November to 19th December 2015. The sixth batch was held from 1st February to March 1st 2016 with 14 students. Fee of Rs.2500/- was collected from each student and duration of the course was 90Hrs conducted from Monday to Friday in the evenings.
Communication is the key to success in life and effective communication calls for mastery over language. The course intends to develop the communication skills. The course is actively oriented and task based to equip the students for both day to day and official students to face the challenges in the communication skills posed by the emerging careers.
The certificate course in communicative English was started on July 14th 2015, 23 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted for one hour in the evenings thrice a week. Ms.RaveenaMascarenhas conducted the course. Fee of Rs.1500/- was collected from each student.
The course using statistical software was started on 9th July 2015. 12 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted for three hours a week. Mrs.Shubharekha form the Department of statistics conducted the classes. Rs.2000/- was collected from each student.
The certificate course was started on 13th July 2015, 22 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted for half an hour from Monday to Friday. Mrs.Shanthi Nazareth from Secretarial Practise Department conducted the course Rs.250/- was collected from each student.

This certificate course was started from 14th July 2015. 4 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted thrice a week. Mrs Suparna Rai from the Department of Computer Science conducted the classes. Rs.700/- was collected from each student.
This certificate course was started from 8th July 2015. 12 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted twice a week for an hour. Mrs Adelaide Saldhana from the Department of Mathematics conducted the course.Rs.700/- was collected from each student.
Basic Computer Skills
This certificate course was started from 14th July 2015. 11 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted thrice a week for an hour. Ms.Laveena from the department of Computer Science conducted the course. Rs.2000/- was collected from each student.
Web Designing and Animation
This certificate course was started on 14th July 2015. 2 students enrolled for the course. Course was conducted thrice a week for an hour each. Ms.Smitha from the Dept. of Computer Science conducted the course. A fee of Rs.3000/- was collected from each student.
This certificate course was started on 11th July 2015. 23 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted for two hours every Saturday. Mrs.Jayashree from Sree Devi Tailors conducted the course. A fee of Rs.250/- was collected from each student.
This certificate course was conducted along with department of commerce in the month of July 2015. 154 students enrolled for the course. The Course was conducted by Mr.Ronith of I BRAIN for 30 hrs. A fee of Rs.1000/- was collected from each student.
Learn and Earn
This certificate course was started in August 2015. 21 students enrolled for the course. The course was conducted once a week on Wednesdays by Ms.Prithvi from the Dept. of Economics. A fee of Rs.350/- was collected from each student.
Coaching for certified Professional Training was started on 20th July 2015. The classes were held from Monday to Saturday by Dr.Cathrine, Mrs.Shubarekha, Mrs.Amitha, Ms.Vineetha and Mrs.Rithika. 18 students enrolled for the course. Fee of Rs.10,000/- was collected from each student
Coaching for Association of Charted certified Accountants( ACCA) started in August 2015. The class were held on Saturdays half day and Sunday full day by ISDC in the campus. 16 students enrolled for the second batch. A course fee of Rs.24,000/- was collected from each student.
Coaching for competitive exams like Bank and MAT was started on 17th August,2015. The classes were held Monday to Friday by Mr.Nagendra Prasad. 10 students enrolled for the course. A fee of Rs.6000/- was collected from each students.
Coaching started for the guitar on 17th August 2015 .15 students enrolled for the course. The course was held twice a week for an hour each by Mr.Collin Braggs. A fee of Rs.500/- was collected from each student for 8 hours class.
Orientation from ISDC regarding ACCA for 1st B.Com students
Guest lecture conducted by Mr.Hisrar of ‘ISHARA’ event Management Company on students on “FUTURE THROUGH EVENT MANAGEMANT”.
Guest lecture for final years regarding cancer by Global Concern India and students contributed for the cause.
Talk on ACCA for 1st and 2nd year BBM students was organized.
Dr.Catherine Rao spoke on “Career As A Charted Accountant” to all 1st year B.Com students.
3RD B.Sc(Comp.Sci) and 3rd BCA were given guest lecture by Prof.Santhosh Rebello and Prof.Suman Lasrado of St. Aloysius College on careers in Computer Science.
All 2nd year B.Com students were given orientation on “Careers in Company Secretary” by Mr.Shanthan M.S from Bangalore.
Guest lecture was conducted by MICE regarding Android Developer Course for 3rd BCA students.
Mr.Hisrar of “HISRAR EVENTS” took up session for all MoralScience students on Part time jobs in Event Management
United Bikers gave a program on “No Honking And Road Safety” for final year BCA, BA, B.Sc and BBM students.
IBRAIN conducted a certificate course for 154 students for 5 days in Soft Skills training.
Mr. Kush Ahuja of ISDC launched ACCA program at St.Agnes College for the academic year and 27 students attended the same.
Mr.Ashok Kumar(CA) Of Mumbai Stock Exchange addressed 50 students of final year B.Com and BBM on Capital Market
Guest Lecture was conducted by Dr.Jayashankar Kannagar on the “Knowledge Of Ancient Mathematics for 2nd and 3rd year B.Sc students.

Enterpreunership Development Program(EDP) inauguration was held in collaboration with ICTACT & RGNIYD.
Mr.Ashoka from School Of Social Work gave a talk on FORENSIC SCIENCE and Dr.Ronald Pinto Vice Principal of St.Alloysius College gave guest lecture on “Scope For Chemistry”. Students who got more than 85% last semester were felicitated.
Mr.Shanthan(CS) gold medallist in Company Secretary gave seminar for all 1st year B.Com students regarding the job opportunities and scope for Company Secretaries in India.

Department of Political Science in association with DACS [Delhi Academy For Civil Services]with Career guidance organized one day workshop on how to conquer civil services as a career. DACS faculty Mr.Venugopal and Mr.Vivet gave the talk. 60students from St.Agnes and outside attended the workshop.
RESCUE Research and Training Charity Trust Conducted seminar for 1st year degree students on “YOUTH ETHICAL ISSUES AND IMPACT ON SOCIETY”.

Mr.Amin, lecturer and Mr.Prakash Amin, HOD MSW, OF MV Shetty College of social work addressed 90 final year BA students on “scope of social work”.
CEO Miles Education Mr. Varun, and Adarsh, Miles Business Development gave a seminar for 3 hours to the faculty of Commerce and Management regarding the incorporating CMA in the syllabus to make an integrated program.
SAP online recruitment test was conducted for 16 BCA & Bsc computer science students.
A team of three students from final year bcom participated in the IMA Student Case Competition 2016.
Six students attended WIPRO Campus drive for a job plus MS degree at Bits Pilani University at SDM Ujiire and three got selected.
Career guidance along with Department of Microbiology conducted one day workshop on “ Food Safety & Food Hygiene”. 44 final year microbiology students attended the session and Dr. Priya was the resource person.
Four BSC students attended Infosys drive at MGM Udupi and two got selected.
Thirteen BSC students attended Infosys drive at SDM Ujire and six got selected.
Thirty students from all streams attended Amazon campus drive at Alvas, Moodbidri and three students got selected.

NIIT Bejai centre conducted free aptitude test for 135 final year students of whom shortlisted would be eligible for Senior Bank Officer role at ICICI Bank.
