Eligibility Criteria:
Plus 2 or 12th standard equivalent
For Commerce Group - Accounting & English minimum 65% and all the other subjects at minimum 50%.

The Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) is a global professional body for chartered accountants.The ACCA is the largest and fastest growing accountancy body in the world with over 170,000 members & 436,000 students, with operations in 180 countries across the globe.The ACCA Qualification takes the candidate to advanced levels in a variety of subjects such as:

  • Out of 14 exams students get exemption for 6 papers. So students have to write only 8 papers to clear ACCA qualification.

The three year degree course in Commerce was introduced in the year 1971.

The Department of Commerce strives to take the students beyond academics and offers innumerable exposures and opportunities to facilitate them to grow in self-confidence and self-esteem, so that they will be able to face all challenges of life successfully. The entire world has become a small village with the net-work of communication technology. In such a fast changing and dynamic world, it is imperative that the present day youth is prepared for innovation and creativity, leading to excellence in performance and good communicators in building human relationships and promoting potential markets and also learn the art of living.

The teaching programme includes lectures, Guest Lectures, Problem Solving, Group Discussion, Case Study, Presentations, Field Trips.

The Department organizes business quiz, debates, competition, inter departmental and intercollegiate competitions. The latest developments in Trade, Commerce & Industries are discussed with the students. Students are trained to become the future leaders in the field of Business and Economics.' Business ethics and social responsibility' is the motto of the training programme of the department.

Orientation Programme for II and III B.Com students


Orientation Programme for II and III B.Com students was held on 16.06.2016 in the Auditorium. The Resource Person for the programme was Ms. Akanksha Hebbar, CA, B.Com Alumna. 640 students benefited from the programme

Orientation for the I B.Com students was held on 20.06.2016 in the Auditorium. The Resource Person was Ms. Melora Pais B.Com Alumna. The programme was attended by 337 students


Guest Lectures/Seminar


  • 17-06-2016: A Guest Lecture on ACCA was organised for the prospective I B.Com ACCA students and their parents. The Resource Person for the programme was Mr. Ravindra Balakrishnan, CFO, International SOS Pte. Ltd.
  • 20-06-2016: Guest Lecture on CMA was given by CA Sunil Shenoy, CONCORDE Academics, Lalbagh Branch, Mangaluru for II B.Com students. 339 students were the beneficiaries.
  • 07-07-2016: Guest Lecture on "Personal Investment Management" was organized for the III B.Com (SAPM) students. The Lecture was delivered by Mrs. Sapna Shenoy, Financial Advisor, Colaco and Aranha Consultants, Mangaluru. 158 students attended the programme.
  • 11-07-2016: Guest Lecture on Preparation for Competitive Examination was organised for II B.Com students. 339 students were beneficiaries. The Resource Person for the programme was Mr. Ashith Poojary, Marketing Manager, TIME, Mangaluru.
  • 11-07-2016: Guest Lecture on CMA was organised for III B.Com students. 315 students were beneficiaries. The Resource Person for the programme was Mr. Adarsh and Mr. Fenil, CMA, Cochin.
  • 25-07-2016: Guest Lecture on Preparation for Competitive Examination was organised for III B.Com students on. 315 students were beneficiaries. The Resource Person for the programme was Mr. Ashith Poojary, Marketing Manager, TIME, Mangaluru.
  • 13-08-2016: Guest Lecture on "Personal Investment Management" was organized for the III B.Com (Business Taxation) students. The Lecture was given by Mrs. Sapna Shenoy, Financial Advisor, Colaco and Aranha Consultants, Mangaluru. 157students attended the programme.
  • 20-08-2016: An Educational Tour was organized for the III B.Com students to view the Management Model Exhibition on Sustainability Development - TATHAASTU at Sridevi Institute of Technology, Kenjar, Mangaluru. 100 students benefited from the exhibition.
  • 26-08-2016: One day seminar on "Capital Market Awareness with an Overview of the Securities Market" by Prof. Raghunandan, Retired Professor of Commerce, SVS College, Bantwal in association with BSE, Mumbai was conducted for the III B.Com A and I B.Com (ACCA) students. 122 students were the beneficiaries.
  • 26-09-2016: One day workshop on ACCA- International Financial Accounting was organised for the I B.Com ACCA students in collaboration with ISDC (International Skill Development Corporation), UK at Audio Visual Room, Veronica Block.42 students were the beneficiaries. Talents day was organized for the First year B.Com students on 19.07.2016. "Agnes Got Talent" - class wise variety competition of all first B.Com students.In all the competitions, 99% of I B.Com student population took part and benefited from the Talents Day organized.

Activities during 2015-16


National Level Conference:

The two day National Conference held under the aegis of the UGC and in collaboration with Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Karnataka on the 26th and 27th of September 2014 had 133 participants. It consisted of 58 Professors/Associate Professors/ Assistant Professors/ Lecturers, 2 Research Scholars, 32 Post Graduate Students and 41 Under Graduate Students.
The Inauguration was done by Mrs. Nalini Shetty, President, Sinchana Mahila Mandal, Porkadi, Bajpe. Prof. Yashavantha Dongre, Co-ordinator, Third Sector Research Centre, University of Mysore gave the Key note address. The Guest of Honour was Mr. S.G. Hegde, Joint Director, DIC, Mangalore and Dr. Sr. M. Prem D’Souza A.C., Principal, St. Agnes College, Mangalore, gave the Presidential Address.The two day Conference was divided into six Technical Sessions .There were 40 Paper Presentatiors.
