ANNUAL REPORT OF THE ACTVITIES OF THE ASSOCIATION MARCH 2017


AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  • To develop scientific temper among the students.
  • To provide opportunities of leadership and organizational skills in science and motivate to build service oriented attitude towards the society.
  • To mould the interest of students in science for research and extension.

The Science forum association has 69 active members who carry out their due responsibilities under the guidance of Mrs. Helen Serrao, Convener, Dept. of Chemistry and Ms. Freeda Almeda, Student incharge, III B.Sc. The students are divided into four groups to enable active participation in every activity performed during the regular E.C.A. hours and also during extension activities.


The activities organized during the year 2016-17 are as follows:

  • During the weekly meetings, regular competitions such as Quiz, Treasure hunt and Poster presentations are conducted
  • During the interdepartmental science Competitions, 'Pinnacle', held on December 2nd, 2016, Quiz competition was conducted.
  • An informative session was conducted for the students of St. Agnes Kannada Primary school on the topic 'Health and Hygiene' on 8th February, 2017. The members of the science forum participated actively and conducted Power Point Presentations, a Dance, a mime show, an action song and a few games for the enthusiastic children on the same topic.
  • The Science forum members were an integral part of the National Science Day celebration held at the Pilikula Regional Science Centre (PRSC), Pilikula, Mangaluru on the 27th February, 2017 on the topic, 'Science and Technology for Specially abled persons'. A day full of new ideas and knowledge intensive sessions was taken up by various resource persons who were specially abled themselves.
  • The afternoon sessions included Science Model Exhibition, Competition and Taramandal demonstration.

The valedictory of the Science forum association was conducted on 11th March, 2017. On this day the winners of the Science model making competition were felicitated.
