WOMEN'S CELL

The College has introduced a "Women's Cell". Students, especially at the Degree level are earnestly exhorted to take an active part in the activities of the Cell. The Cell endeavors to alliveate the negative forces that confront women, both on the campus and in the city. The Women's Cell handles issues related to women's welfare.

THE WOMEN'S CELL seeks to empower the students of this, a women's college and educate them on gender-related issues. Hence the competitions conducted by the Cell are designed to showcase studentsí talents, boost their confidence and identify their strength areas. Collage, poster making, quiz, singing, mehendi design, hairstyle and movie making are some such contests.


Activities 2015 - 2016 :

Women's Cell in collaboration with Women's study center organized the International Women's Day 2016 - "Pledge for Parity" in St. Agnes College Auditorium on 8th March, Mrs. M Kavitha Shastri, District Governor, Lions District 317 D was invited as the Chief Guest she addressed gathering on how to be an empowered women by spending atleast half an hour with ourself, to know self and to value self. She also spoke on how girls should give importance to their health and should not have very high self esteem, but have goals in life and walk on the right path.

Women's Cell also organized a talk on "Dual Role of Women". Dr. Rose Veera D'Souza- Head, Political Science, St. Aloysius College was the Key Speaker. She showed video on how women have acquired highest position at the global level, she spoke with various statistical results as how world is changing its view towards women, she demanded that it should be the world of 50-50, were women are treated equally to that of men. She inspired students in a very interactive way.

 

30-01-2016:

  • The Harmony Club in association with Human Rights Education Cell , Agnes Towards Community, Women's Cell and Dept. of Political Science celebrated Peace Day on January 30, 2016 at 12.00 noon in the College Auditorium. The Chief guest of the day was Teesta Setalvad, Indian Civil Rights Activist and Journalist, Gujarath.
  • Guest Lecture by Dr. Deepa Kamath, Periodontics of KMC Mangaluru on Oral Health in Women on 22.08.2015
  • Nature Club, Rangers Association and Women's cell organised a guest lecture on Significance of Breast Feeding and Awareness on Breast Cancer to commemorate the International Year of Breast Feding on August 11-08-2015. The Resource Person was  Dr. Aruna Kamath
  • Inaugural of Women's Cell Association of 2015-2016, Chief Guest Mayor of Mangaluru: Mrs. Jacintha Vijaya Alfred on 01.07.2015.
