Admission Guidelines:
  • The Application form will be available in the PG Centre Office for Rs. 150/-. It must be filled completely and then registered in the PG Centre office with Rs.50/- (cash/ postal order/ DD) .
  • Submit the application at the earliest along with the marks. Do not wait for the original marks card.
  • Forms returned by post will not be registered, unless accompanied by a DD/Postal Order for Rs.50/-. Forms reaching the college office after the deadline (July 31st, 2011) will not be processed.
 Interview for PG: Documents to be produced:
  • Degree original marks cards and one photostat copy of the same
  • Attested Photostat copy of SSLC/CBSE or any other qualifying Board Examination marks card.
  • Transfer certificate in original from the instituition last attended
  • Conduct Certificate (original)
  • Eligibility Certificate from Mangalore University, Migration and pass certificates for students coming from other states.
  • Two passport size photographs and one stamp size photograph(coloured).
  • Three copies of Caste Certificate for SC/ST category | candidates.

Admission and fees:

A candidate who appears for the interview and secures a seat will pay all the fees in the bank on the following day failing which she forfeits the seat.

No fees will be refunded if a student leaves the course after admission.

Students who do not attend classes for five consecutive days after the re-opening will forfeit their seats.

About St. Agnes Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research
From its very inception, the College has set its own standards in higher education. In keeping with its commitment to excellence and bearing in mind the demands of academic autonomy, St. Agnes College, has taken a step forward in the field of post-graduate education. Three of the P.G. programmes being offered in the academic year 2009-10 are M.A. in English , M.Sc. Psychology and M. Com. The P.G. Programmes are open to all.
These P.G. programmes have been designed by experts in the field. The curriculum is relevant to the times and need-based. As per the UGC and Government regulations the PG programmes will have a 50/50 CIA/End Semester marks allotments. Learning by doing and listening would be the practical thrust given to the PG students.
 
The departments have well equipped laboratories with assessment tests and Language Software to give hands on experience to the learners. Ongoing internship would mark the high point of the PG Programme of Psychology and Communicative Dimension is thought of in the PG English Programme. Look forward to more PG programmes in the forthcoming years.
 
M. Com. 
 

The course is spread over four semesters, two each in M. Com. Previous and Final.  The course syllabus consists of five papers in each semester and offers two areas of specialization in the final year i.e., Financial Management and Investment science, and Human Resource Management.

Eligibility:

Candidates aspiring for admission to M. Com. should hold a degree in B. Com. or B. B. M. or any other equivalent degree/diploma with a minimum of 50%.

M.A. in English

The curriculum of M.A. in English programme is designed to meet the needs of a student seeking literary training and also, to familiarize the student with various levels of language study and enable her/him to use English effectively for communication and specific purposes. Towards this end the syllabus has been developed so as to fit the students out for the contemporary job market.
 
Efforts have also been made to give the Post-Graduate student as wide and intense an experience of literature as possible so as to enable him/her to pursue M.Phil. and Doctoral Studies.
 
The student will also be acquainted with a broad and sensitive understanding of human and societal relations and their inherent issues and problems.
 
In addition the student will be grounded in the basics of research methodology and will be guided in the writing of a 50 page dissertation and will have to face a viva-voce on the same.

Any graduate with   General English(>=60%)  / English as a major subject (>=45%[SC/ST - 40%])
 

M.Sc. Psychology

Psychology the science of behaviour helps to understand self and others. A course in Masters in Psychology with specialization in clinical will help to cater to the needs of people suffering from a variety of psychological and emotional problems.
 
The main aim of the course is to train and prepare students to function as psychologists/counselors in hospitals, mental health centres, schools/colleges, Rehabilitation Guidance and Counseling Centres.
 
NATURE OF THE COURSE

Course - 1 M. Sc. Psychology with specialization in Clinical Psychology (Four Semesters)

The course in M.Sc. Psychology  is programmed for four semesters and each semester having continuous assessment with an end semester evaluation. The course will have a mixture of theory and practice  components.   with greater emphasis on "Practice in the clinical field" in order to develop skills for rendering psychological services to the society.

M. Sc. Chemistry:
M. Sc. programme in General Chemistry is offered with objectives of empowering the students towards:
  • Career opportunities in various scientific instituitions, research organizations, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
  • Inculcating scientific temper and orientation towards research
  • Developing an analytical mind for applying science in day-to-day life.

Eligibility:

Any graduate with Chemistry as a major, having studies at least 5 papers of Chemistry at the  qualifying examination.  He/she should have obtained at least 60% in the aggregate marks at the qualifying examination.
